Hi all

Does anyone else suffer with hives?
I've posted about red blotches before but I can't find my original post, but this last week the red blotches have got worse, so another visit to the Dr, she advised it hives! So I've been an anti histamine but doesn't seem to be helping yet, I start my new job on Tuesday, hope it's gone by then Sad

I love people who can make you smile even when you do not feel like smiling. x

Well hives is an allergic reaction to some agent. Anything new in your diet, washing detergent etc that could have caused it?

Reading your post again I see that this is not the first time you have had red blotches, which points to some kind of recurring allergic reaction. And of course one of the classics, and one which is alleged to be a factor in RA, is tomatoes. If you blotches come and go can you link that with anything in particular?

hi Louise,

i agree with Paul,

i feel you must be allergic to something .. it's finding the something though.

after i had about 3 depo steroid injections, literally as i came out of the Hospital my legs started developing hive's and on my tummy .. the first time i thought i had been bitten, but then it happened after the next injection, so the penny dropped.

i only had about 6 hive's but enough to know i didn't want any more depo's, and it is now down in my file.

hope they have eased up now, would definately mention it at your Rheumy Clinic.

My older son got hives after a course of penicillin when he was younger, so it was written on his notes not to be prescribed. I had them as a teenager, but never really got any satisfactory answer to what had caused them.

Thank you for your advice, I will keep an eye on when it flares up. It has gone down a bit, but still not nice with staring a new job as well.
